Disaster Book Series
COPE is a series of free books that cover hazards ranging from floods to earthquakes, wildfires to cyclones. They aim to help children prepare for various disasters, providing coping tools and a key Disaster Risk Reduction message in each book to enhance their disaster resilience. The books have been translated into 18 languages, including the 6 UN languages.
The books are distributed in around 40 countries, on online platforms such as the World Meteorological Organisation’s Library, UNICEF Learning Passport, UN Women, UNDRR PreventionWeb, IARRD Argentina and World Vision Nepal, reaching 3 million children. In addition, the books are used on ground projects in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Nepal, and Colombia, to name a few. Our collaborators include the World Meteorological Organisation, the Hong Kong Observatory, UNDRR, UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific, World Vision, the University of Oxford, James Cook University, the University of Pretoria, and other renowned academic and scientific institutions worldwide.
